Başak Aygün

Başak Aygün works on data privacy projects with clients so that their companies comply with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law and related legislation. Companies that process the personal data of real persons are subject to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law and are expected to process, keep, or destroy that personal data pursuant to the relevant rules of law.

She currently assists the Corporate team, providing advice to clients in relation to the relevant agreement, daily corporate work, and any current projects. In addition to working on due diligence processes, she has participated in Merger and Acquisition Projects, and in a capital markets project in the amount of USD 500,000,000.

She likes the fact that data protection law is a new practice area and most of the rules are newly established; this means that lawyers who practice in data privacy can work pretty much anywhere in the world because wherever they are, there'll be companies seeking advice on data protection. It may already be necessary for a company’s business model to be in compliance with existing and future legislation.
